My dad just bought a John Deere and he gave me his old IH. The serial plate is scratched beyond recognition. The only thing I could make out was 9374J. It's been painted by the previous owner and I have no idea where to look for identifying markers. It has a C135 engine. I took from that, that it should be a 330, 340, or 404. Is that correct? Is there any way of telling what I have? Thanks for any information!

A picture would go a LONG way towards helping identify it.

I might could get in the ballpark with a photo... but I just can't help you with the numbers... don't know the IH's as well as I'd like to.

Finally snapped some photos. I took some printouts from TractorData to dad and he said that 2404 seemed to ring a bell. It used to be a state tractor. Anywho, here's the photos:
