Hi, So I decided to replace the axle seals on my 1989 310-8. I managed to get the hub off with a puller, but I cant get the keyway off the axle. I tried some heat and tried to bang it out with a chisel but no luck. Can someone please offer some advice or tips? Should I use more heat? I didnt want to overheat it. Should I be heating it cherry red? Please advise. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I managed to get a step chisel under it and it popped it right out! The seal was easy believe it or not. It isn't the deep kind like in the writeup on here somewhere. It is thin. The other side's keyway slid right out- go figure... It only took me about 30 minutes to do the other side. Funny how that works when you are doing work. The other side is always faster!

It's "Always" either the last bolt, or the part that looks the easiest to remove that gives me fits. :fing20:
