I'm looking at what was advertised as a Ford Diesel Tractor. The owner didn't know what it was when I called.
I took a look at it today and the hood has some faint " 801 Power Master " lettering on it. The serial number is 841D 170XXX. It's definitely a 4 cyl diesel.

Is this a 1962 801 tractor? The numbers don't coincide with anything I've been able to locate on the internet. Help would be appreciated.

Thanks very much for the reply. I'm also thinking it's a '62, but still can't find any info on how many they made that year. I'd like to verify if this tractor falls into published production numbers. Seems like at 170XXX, this was one of the very last to come off the line?
Any info on the final production number would sure be appreciated.

841 Serial Numbers:
1957: 1001
1958: 11977
1959: 58312
1960: 105943
1961: 131427
1962: 155531

I think that Ford used consecutive serial numbers for all models of tractors in a given year. So serial number 1001 might have been a 621, and 1002 might have been a 811, then 1002 might have been a 841, etc. It looks like they were making anywhere from 24,000 to 45,000 tractors per year from 1958 through 1961, so 170,000 is less than 24,000 higher than the starting serial number for 1962, so it is probably a valid number for 1962. In '63 they changed to the 2000/4000 4 cylinder models and started over again with serial number 1001 on those.
