Help with 1050 tires please

586 Views 9 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  marcosphoto
I have a 1050 with rear 8x8.5-12 tires. They're (obviously) extremely old and started to leak last year during my attempts to clean up and repair the tractor after stuffing away due to various problems. The tire size doesn't exist anymore nor are the any listings even remotely for this size for inner tubes. I had thought to try to stuff a Carlisle 321370 (23x8.5/9.5/10.5-12) tube in there out of desperacy but thought I would try the forums for advice first.

Have you tried Miller Tire?....they are a sponsor on this site...good people
m. e. MILLER tire | Largest Selection of Hard to Find & Antique Tires call them if you don't see what you want in their "catalogue"
I sort of need something available anywhere I think, Miller tire is over 10 hours drive. I'm sure shipping a tube would be insane costs. I'm actually thinking the Carlisle part number I listed should work, the tires on the tractor now are 23x8.5-12 so that tube should work. Going to try to order that monday.
Do you have a Tractor Supply Store around you? They sell tires and tubes. My two cents
Sorry guys, the reason I posted this question is because an equipment place said there was nothing available on the market for this tire size. After my own research yesterday I found that one which I believe should fit. I don't really understand tractor tube sizing but seems pretty simple to me now that I read the side of my tires and confirm they are 23". I'll call some places tomorrow with that part number and see if I get anywhere, don't see why they can't order one for me. It's clear we'll be in trouble when the tires fail, that size definitely is history.

I have had them ship tubes, tires and chains to me in New York...and the shipping was either free in some cases or very reasonable
Sorry, forgot to mention i'm in Ontario Canada. Anything from the US ends up roughly 2X-3X the price by the time taxes, duty, transport fees, etc. get factored in. Living in Canada is a real problem when it comes to buying any products, much smaller market translates to availability issues, inflated pricing and boarder issues when shipping. I'll try to part number here first, failing that I'll perhaps ship it to a PO box in Buffalo and wait until I have a need to drive out there.
You might try Casterland - Casters and Wheels, Glides, Tires for UTV / ATV , they have locations across western canada, but probably also ship stuff. I get great service from their Edmonton location and the prices are good too (at least, compared to other local places that sell similar items).
Just to close off this posting, bought and confirmed the 23x8.5/9.5/10.5-12 size tubes are just fine. Although I opted to save $10 from my buddies place who had some brand of tube with a steel valve stem and bought an oregon pile of garbage from a local place with a junk rubber valve stem that refuses to sit in place properly on the bolens rim and was really thin rubber. Serves me right, trying to bring the price down from $55 to $45 as always is never worth it.
