This Craftsman EZ Walk variable speed walk behind mower was left at the house my Daughter and Son-in-law bought. I don't know anything more than what can be seen in the pictures:

i.e.

21" cut
Honda engine
EZ Walk variable speed
Based on blocked discharge chute, I believe it to be a mulching mower
I have found no bagging assembly though it sort of looks like it was made to accept one

I don't know the age, maintenance history, nor anything more about a model name or number. And, most importantly, what I should price it at for a CL sale.

Thanks. I visited my Daughter (well, I actually visited my Grandson) and pulled the mower out of the back of a shed. I now have a Model number: 917.376692

With that I found an owner's manual online. I also found it had a small amount of gas in the tank, and the gas shut-off valve open. I couldn't even guess how long the gas has sat in there, but more than 2 years for sure.

Sorry, MTF is insistent on turning my pictures upside-down.

The upside down pictures is usually due to your camera or camera settings. Roger
Thanks Roger, I actually know what causes it. I'm left handed, so my iPhone is oriented opposite of the world of right handers when I take the pictures. What I don't understand is why every other web based picture presentation service (that I have ever tried) has had no problem interpreting the meta-data recorded with the picture and properly orienting them. That is FaceBook, Google, ArboristSite, TacomaWorld, eBay, Craigslist, Can-AM ATV, REVER, . . . But, MTF hasn't figured it out yet. But neither do I understand why rogue advertising threads have been showing up in our listings for over two months now and can't seem to be corralled. Neither of these mysteries has anything to do with a proper assessment of the value of the mower I'm about to sell.

Those are decent mowers. If it works, I would charge $75-100. Since you don't have the bag, or any other accessories, it is not worth anything near $150 or $190. I have sold similar ones for $125 with a bag and/or chute.

I had a similar Craftsman push mower with the Honda GCV160 motor, and I still have the bag assembly. Let me know if you want the bag assembly.

Thanks, still planning to sell it. I have a perfectly good (though more than 30 year old) mower I use for trimming. No power drive, no safety handle, no problem for pushing, pulling, angling around trees, over roots, into tight spaces. If it feels like the bagger is essential to a reasonable price, I'll let you know, and work a plan to visit.

Thanks again

Cleaned it up, replaced the stale, likely Ethanol laden gas, checked the spark plug (clean and dry), pulled the air filter (it was new), pulled the filter shroud and found an insanely dusty carb housing. Kind of hard to clean it on the outside without getting too much of the dirt into the throat of the carb. Inside the throat looked clean, choke butterfly worked fine. Put it back together, put fresh gas, pulled about a dozen times got one sputter and a small puff of gray smoke, then nothing. I am pretty sure the stale gas is the issue, and I have weekend guests arriving here in time for lunch. So, tucked it away with the sincere hope the fresh gas will dilute/clean the carb enough to get it started. Barring that, maybe a divine intervention while shed bound. I really don't have time for a serious carb rebuild for a mower I intend to sell, cheap, and quick.

As near as I can tell, the serial number suggests it was made April 20, 2005. Model number suggests it was manufactured by Husqvarna. It appears it wasn't used much, and it appears it had a new plug and air filter, and oil change done recently (at least recently as far as operating hours are concerned).

I have a craftsman mower bigger Briggs engine, single lever adjustment, rear wheel drive mulch/side discharge or bag they it was only $319 new . Here without the bagger around here that is a common mower here the go for about $75 here without the bagger I am not impressed with the budget Honda engines the make for lower cost mowers

You are correct. That mower was made on April 20th of 2005. Up until recent years, Craftsman was owned by American Yard Products (AYP), which was owned by Electrolux. Poulan, Poulan Pro, McCulloch, Husqvarna, Weed Eater, and Craftsman were all owned by Electrolux. I would take the time to clean or replace the carb. You can get an OEM Carburetor on Amazon for under $40 shipped. That mower is worth $75-100.

Prices vary per area, and as suggested.. I'd search your local CL to see if there's any similar and see what they're listed for, then undercut their price a bit and get 'er sold! Without it running though, I wouldn't expect $100 or $75 for it, even if it is an easy carb cleaning. 'Ready to mow' mowers w/Honda motors are $100+ all day long usually though in most areas.
I had a similar one I sold last year (inside of 6hrs after listing it), only it had the single speed drive instead of variable speed drive (single speed sux). I had (have) a variable speed handle + matching belt cover I thought about swapping onto it, but never did because it wasn't a mower I was interested in keeping/using either way since I had various other mowers to choose from.. half of which were/are a nice shade of green :tango_face_wink:, so I just cleaned 'er up real good like I do and moved it out. It sold for $135 with a bag that didn't originally come with it, but I had put with it, so take note of the hook style because I'd imagine that's the same style yours would use. The one DrewZ pictured would have better matched my mower (and could possibly be what would have come with mine), but at the end of the day the color of the bag doesn't make it bag any better/worse, and even if you don't use a bag they still fetch more money when they have a bag to go with it.

None of my tender touch to air cleaner, carb, carb cleaner spray, fuel tank drain, nor plug helped get it started. Neither did draining tank and refilling with 93 Octane (had some for the motorcycles). So too for an untold number of ever frustrating yanks on the rope. So, I resorted to TSC generic branded Ether Starting fluid. Started on first pull, and cleaned up to a purring Honda in about 3 minutes.

Now to clean it up again and get it on CL.

Thanks for the guidance.

Thanks Folks. Sold and picked up with cash in hand for $100 in less than 24 hours. Might could've got $125, but I'm not feeding my family with proceeds of these occassional sales, so I'm happy.

Thanks especially to @DrewZ - looks like I will not need that bag after all. Appreciate your offer! Carry on here in the Walk Behind threads.
