I bought the 650 a few years ago for such a deal I couldn’t pass it up. I have been nothing but impressed with what it can do. I swear it is one of the best small tractors I have ever operated.
Here is the problem. Recently after an oil chang I noticed a gear noise coming from the oil filter and front of engine. When the engine worms up the gear noise goes away. Is this something I should be proactive on. Or just ignor. I am retired machinist/ micanic and familiar with many diesels but no Yanmar experience.
Any ideas?
Thanks Bob

Hi Bob ; I have a x595 4x4 JD with the FEL and a owner installed backhoe. It has a 3 cyl. Yanmar diesel. If I remember correctly, the 650 (great machine) has a 2 cyl Yanmar. Check the bearing/seal on your water pump. Mine started to make noise when the bearing got a little "tired". Just a thought. have owned the x595 for a long time (it's a 2003 model) and the water pump is the only thing I've had to do to the motor besides oil & filter changes (1,900 hrs). The only other source of "noise" would be the cam drive. The 3 cyl. also has a balance shaft driven off the crank, not sure if the 2 cyl . has one?

Bob, I saw your post in the Help desk and moved it to the JD CUT forum where you should get answers. Not much chance in the help desk as that is primarily for questions on navigating the forum and other site related question. Not a lot of the regular members (those with the equipment related answers) frequent it.
