Glad to find this site as I just had a real neat Bolens 1256 tractor complete with the mower, dozer blade and the rototiller. We have about 3/4 acres that we do a big garden every year, with me not getting any younger (71 on my way to 72), this will make things a lot easier for sure. The garden was being worked with a Troy Built Horse rototiller, this now easy but when tilling new ground it is very difficult.
This is my 1256 that is being brought back to life. The carb needed to be rebuilt, so I found a kit on Ebay to rebuild it. The previous owner must of had a fuel feed problem as there was a strange looking device on the fuel input fitting. This turned out to be a pressure regulator, strange. This went along OK as it is a very simple updraft model but when it was pulled apart there was a warped lower body so the gasket did not do the job. The lower casting was lapped in on some flat emery til it was flat.
Reassembled the carb with all the new parts, mounted it and she fired right up, no problem at all.
Long intro but this is what I am up to on the new toy, no workhorse that is fun would be better description. I am very happy to have found a place away from the rest of the world and am looking forward to meeting as many as possible.
