Just wanted to say hello to the forum, and I'm glad to have found such a great resource. I'm in the process of looking for my first tractor, and I've already found so much helpful information.

Lots of suggestions will abound I'm sure.. The best thing for you to consider is what size lawn do you have and what other chores will you need the machine for and lastly.. How much $$ will momma let you spend..

WNYTractorTinkerer - I am not near Canadaigua. I live in the Hudson Valley, about halfway between NYC and Albany.

Maybe someone can help me out with where to post my first question. I'm looking for advice on the selection of a lawn tractor, and am currently choosing between a JD and a Snapper. Where should I post this? In the JD forum, the Snapper forum, the Backyard Round Table . . . all of the above?

post it in Backyard roundtable for now, it covers general stuff concerning tractors and since you don't know what you favor yet, that would probably be better than a thread in each forum.
