I've been following this forum for a while, as I did a lot of homework before buying my first tractor. You guys are very helpful.

I have an 1/2 ac yard, pretty leveled, few obstacles, so it screams "entry level lawn tractor". Looked at 42" Craftsman YT3000, Cub 1042 and JD 105/110.

I am pleased to announce that I just test rode a trade-in JD D105 (the guy had 2 acres and traded in for an X300) and loved it. Only 4 weeks, 12 hrs used, from a reputable JD dealer 5 miles from where I live. A decent discount plus free mulching kit. Loved the dealer rep, as he sent me mowing their own open field so I could fully test it out. With all respect, not the same level of service one gets at a box store.

Having it delivered tomorrow. Can't wait to mow. I'll post an update soon.

First of all, thanks for the kind words. I realize that, in the John Deere World, I am a simple, poor owner of a D105...Some of you guys live the dream with the big machines. I'm just glad to belong...

With that being said, wow. I love my JD! Started right up, great cut, I am a FAN! See pic below, my new ride.. can wait to mow again!

Will keep you all posted...

I know what you mean. I don't have the biggest JD either but I love this thing. I've owned Craftsmen my whole life. I just didn't get the whole JD thing until I used my brother's old D160. It was just a 16HP Kohler with a 42" deck. Long story short, it wasn't running so he asked me to fix it. Once I got it running, I had to test it out on my yard. I just found myself maintaining a constant smile the entire time while mowing. That was like 2 years ago. I just got my own this season.

I'm still smiling.
Congratulations, and welcome! Keep it maintained, and it should keep you happy for a long time.
Hokie congrats and hope the new machine serves you well for years to come ! :trink40:.

I too have one along with a couple other folks on here and you can check out my review sometime if you care to D105 Review :fing32:.

Thanks for the pic and keep us updated !.
Hokie, it's easy to love these things! Lots of excellent tractors out there, but the green and yellow tractor will be the first thing you look at in the garage when you go in and the last thing you look at when you leave!

Enjoy...
Congrats You will like this forum and the fine people on it
Sharp!! :thThumbsU
