Hi All,
I need some input. I started the assembly of the front cowling today.
First thing was applying the headlight panel decal. The decal I received from Maple Hunter decals has the headlight spacing at 1-7/8" apart. This is the measurement between the decals headlight openings. My panels headlights are spaced at 1-1/16". Maple Hunter is looking into this but I am wondering if anyone else has the 1-1/16" space between the headlights. It would determine
that at least two different panels were made.
I attached a pic.
Thanks, Neil J.

Thanks Guys.
Perhaps there is a difference in original and optional headlight assemblies.
Here's what I gathered but probably doesn't mean much. My Jake's front
aluminum cowling had three holes in each side...the screen fastened by the
lower four and the headlights by the upper two. Yet, my headlights rattled about.
I found a nicer aluminum cowling on e-bay. This better cowling had four holes
drilled in each side. Four screws to secure the headlights and four for the screen.
(You can see this in my other post) This leads me to believe that my headlights weren't
original...or Jacobsen discovered that two screws were not enough to secure the headlights. (although two screws were enough for the Jake nameplate)
Anyway, I haven't yet seen different numbers for headlight assemblies to nail it down.

Thanks alot Jay,
Well... this shows that at least two different headlight panels were made.
I have a two page Headlight Accessory No. 59566 own. man. & parts list
that states it's for the 1969 Chief 53074, 53077, 53088, and 53245.
My Jake is a 1966 53038 (Hmmm....) I believe my headlights were an aftermarket
option.
I hope Maple Hunter Decals can pull it off and make a decal for the narrower lights.
Jay...If you need the right headlight panel decal for your Jake....I have it...cheap!
Thanks again Buddy

It's an original Jacobsen painted panel. Here's a pic.
See the wider black margin on the sides of the lights.?
It's the best pic I have of it. I am kicking myself for sandblasting
it before checking the fit.:banghead3

Here is another more eye level view- you will seee that the "header" where "Jacobsen" is is alot shorther that the other shown and is more consistent with the one in the catalog shown above
