Uphill, blade engagement cause a slowdown of the motor and sometimes enough to stop the motor.

I recently replaced fuel filter, gas cap, and carb gasket. Problem seemed to go away and came back. I check the throttle response when engaging, and the movement appears normal. None of the connecting rods are bent or worn.

I want to check the coil, and I noted that two coils are available as OEM:

30500-ZF5-L32 and L31.

This is the coil assembly. Not just a coil. I was then wondering if there is a generic coil replacement available and what are the specs for the coil resistance to check.

Thanks for any insight. Cheers.

Sounds to me like it's a timing issue. Have to get to the timing belt and properly adjust. That's what's happening with my 3813. I just don't have the time to pull a motor right now. Aside from that it's perfect. Good luck.

I did not know these motors had a timing belt. This is not a OHC engine is it? Are the cams not driven by crank timing directly?
Most Honda riding equipment uses a GXV-series engines that are OHV, and the camshaft is driven direct by the crankshaft...this has a traditional cylinder head and engine block design...

Took measurements cold at the coil removed, got about 11k ohms across the coil from both sides. Ran the mower for about 15 minutes to warm it. I initially had issue cold with engaging the blades once, but after restarting no issue with motor dying after engagement during blade spin up.

Coil measurement hot across was 9kohm. After waiting a few moments, I was able to start the mower, and return it to the garage.

Probably going to replace the coil, and hope thats it. Any ideas?
