I borrowed my buddy's woodsplitter the other day. While trying to start it, it was sputtering fuel out of the muffler. I did not choke it, but acted like it was flooded.

Yesterday, I pulled and pulled. It finally strated after it spit a wad of fuel onto my leg when it fired.

The splitter is a 35ton with 11 hp Briggs on it from Tractor Supply.

Any ideas? Carb need rebuild?

Thanks.

It was probably flooded from being transported without the fuel valve turned off. This is also a common problem on Honda GX engines on towable equipment- if it's transported with the fuel left on, you can be virtually assured of a cylinder full of gas.

Having been in the rental business, I would advise against borrowing (or loaning) tools.
