Hello,
Its getting colder outside and I was thinking of winter projects. I have been wanting to restore my Jacobsen Cheif for sometime now. I did a paint job a few years back but never changed the seals in the rear axl or anything mechanical due to the lack of knowledge on locating parts. I didn't see this site back than or I'm sure I could have found the info needed. So I'm happy to be able to talk to people of the same interest and getting this tractor ready for the next growing season. I actually use this tractor daily in the spring to pull a trailer around the farm.

Brief history on this tractor. I bought it in 1995 from my uncle who bought it from a farmers auction for $20.00. I believe it's a 1961, and has the dual pulley in the rear for a rototiller attachment. And has been pulling a trailer since 1995 at least 150-200 days out of the year. She is my work horse and deserves some attention. I made a custom trailer hitch and this is where I relocated my battery and I'm now using a car battery. I'm not going for the bone stock look, I'm going for what fits my needs to get the job done. Again I'm looking forward hearing from you all and gaining info and hopefully able to give some insight of my own that might be useful.

WNYTractorTinkerer; I also take my son along with my nieces and nephews for a ride on the trailer. I can interupt thier train of thought or any other activity by just saying the words; "tractor ride?" and they go nuts. Growing up on a farm I take tractors for granted, it's as common a tool as a screwdriver. I'm still waiting on the powercord to the laptop or I would post some pictures of the trailer I built. I built it around the rear axle of a 1978 Toyota corola. But be warned it will look ratty in the pictures as it needs new decking.

Thanks for the welcome coupster.

How much Duck-tape is on it?? :biglaugh: The grandkids sure love the tractors for sure.. Wait until they get older and then they won't be quite as much fun when they gotta mow the lawn??

Our youngest son used to travel the town in our tractor while I worked after school..:banghead3 He was spotted all over town so it wasn't long before we found out.. Crazy kids! :fing32:
