Having a problem with gas leaking out of carb hose on GX345. Problem occurs when the engine is shut off briefly (for refuel, etc) and then restarted. Tractor takes longer than normal to start, then runs rough with a lot of black smoke (flooding most likely) followed by a spurt of gas from carb hose (probably not more than a tablespoon or two). The engine then clears up and runs OK.
This problem started shortly after replacing the carb (had to replace it because the carb body got damaged when I tried to remove one of the jets for cleaning). I checked and the heat shield is installed properly.
It almost seems like it is an overheating problem, but the temp. light has never lit up (other than the lamp check at startup). Just wondering if the new carb is running too lean causing the engine to run on the upper end of the acceptable temperature range, and it's boiling the gas in the carb bowl? The coolant is at the correct level and I have not had to add any since the last change so there are no leaks.
If this is truly an overheating problem, I want to get it resolved before I cause any permanent engine damage.
Any ideas?
