I have a nice walk-behind GX1330 with a 48inch deck and am in process of putting a deere 54inch deck on it---I am making new mounting plates etc. it is a deere deck but had mounts for a rider tractor.

But the 48inch deck on the walk-behind has 4.5inch pulleys on deck blade pulleys which turn blades at around 4100 rpm. and 54inch deck has 6inch pulleys which will turn at 3300rpm and I know the blades are bigger on the 54 but should I swap the pulleys from the 48inch to spin faster???

Clutch pulley is 5.5inch and assume this deck had a 25hp kohler which turn at 3600 but since this GX1330 is a Commercial mower thought they had a reason the blades turn faster??

Interesting question....but it might be trial and error...keep in mind that the ends of the 54 inch blades have further to travel on each revolution.....I would try it with the 6 inchers and see how it works
