Hello,

Been reading this forum and another on lawn tractor's or now informed Garden Tractors and have it narrowed to JD and a few models. I have my girlfriend and her uncle looking at some used models as I am currently out of the US.

I am looking for confirmation I have it correct in the differences.

GT245 all the same as GX255 and GX335 accept no hydraulic implements (deck, steering) K71 has no external filter no diff lock.

GX255 step up from GT245 adding hydraulic power steering but same manual lift deck. K71C has external filter and diff lock

GX335 same as other two but now has hydraulic power steering and hydraulic deck lift. 2004 model K71C external filter and diff lock.

Extra info can give thoughts if you like, always up to hear opinions.
The GT245 $2200 asking price. Has 54" deck other two are 48" decks.

The GX255 they asking $3500 but they will consider $3k, in picture is very clean and only 120hrs.

And the GX335 660 hours asking $2900 looks clean on listing accept missing front bumper and left side piece cracked.

Thank you all for your time and thoughts.

Personally in that category I'd look for a GX345 with the FD611v 20HP Kawasaki engine. Liquid cooled, power steering, diff lock, K71, and hydraulic power deck lift. Or a 345 with the FD611v. Has all of the previous features except diff lock. Liquid cooling is worth the investment because it will make your engine last longer.

HarryC thanks for the reply. I haven't dismissed the 345 or gx345 and for that matter even a gt235. I am looking to stay under $3k. There was a 345 I found but it has sold and other 345 and gx345 are over the budget I set.

Little more information on the use. 99% mowing a 3/4 acre lot almost completely flat and with some large tree's. May do some snow plowing in the future but for now my Ariens walk behind blower is working very well. And I will likely use it to move trailers with jet ski's and or dirtbikes/quads around. Mainly why looking at the stronger Garden Tractors vs the Lawn Tractor's.

Here looks like a couple good tractors though. The seller has 2.

Appreciate you searching around and the pointers. They are out looking at the ones I mentioned above now plus a 318, not sure if they will buy one today or not. So don't want to waste your time searching. Though sometimes it is fun to search around and see what people are asking for stuff.

That sounds like a good deal for the GX335. It will cut grass alot better than the 318.
I have read about the newer decks cutting better then the older decks found on the 318's and such. I was also more interested in the diff lock found on the GX's then the L/R brake system on the 318.

Her uncle mentioned he thought the GX335 was more stout then the GX255. I thought they where exactly the same accept for less hydraulic functions?

Was delivered today and girlfriend loves it. Cut the mowing time from 3 hours with a Toro personal pace to 1 hour her first time using it so may go quicker for her later. She likes how quiet it is and says it is easy to operate which makes me very happy. Her and her uncle made the what I feel is a great deal.
Here are some pictures of it. First two are from our place, last three from the sale listing.
