It has Hydraulic 3pt hitch. Wheel weights and runs real good. How much? I really like it but I'll need to sell one of my other tractors. He says it needs some adjustment because it creeps when stopped. Oh. It comes with a mower deck and snow plow too.
Joe
Hugh, I am not finding much info on these. Are they a real good tractor? I have an old Commando 8 (Pic) that is one of the very best pieces of equipment that I've ever had. I want to plow gardens with this tractor? Is it a good choice? UNCOMMON as in hard to find parts for??
Joe
the hardest part on these is the trans, which can be expensive to fix. the 14hp k321 kohler is a good engine, heavy on gas though. these were marketed as an industrial tractor, larger than a garden tractor. very tough, very torquey. plowing would be easy with this
Man says $580.00 firm. Claims it has been professionally serviced which may or not be true but I tend to be pretty trusting of folks. so I believe he's on the level. I thought 580 was a pretty good price but no?? To me, with the way my arm is carrying on with muscle problems I thought the hydraulic lift would be worth it. I assume my 3 pt attachments will fit right on this tractor? Garden plow, disc and cultivators?
Joe
The GT14 was rated as a commercial tractor made from 69-73. It is not a rare tractor, at least here, and parts are available. With any old hydro tractor you have to make sure the hydro is in good shape. Run it around at 3/4 throttle for bout a 1/2hr then gently pull up to a tree with the front end touching the tree see if the wheels will spin if it does good to go.
I have had several of these and they are real beasts! Dry weight of 900lbs.
Had one i made a fel for and used it/ abused it for 7-8 yrs with little to no repair.
priceing decent condition
tractor w/deck 300-500
3pt 200-250
plow 100-150
package deal - 500-750
Remember pricing depends on condition and location.
Thanks for your input Steve. I just found another post from february where someone found one of these with a bunch of goodies to go with it. You were providing info on that post as well. Thanks.
Hugh is tellin' me my Sears attachments won't fit this..........Now I need to find a REAL 3 pt plow. Dang, just never ends but I'm learning things though!
Joe
the problem is the spacing of the lower lift arms, sears 3pt is about 12" apart and true cat. 0 is about 21". in theory, you could put a sleeve over the lower tabs, put a hitch pin thru it to hold it on, and weld some tab extensions onto the sleeve
Thanks Hugh. I understand what you mean. with the adaption.
Joe
Dang!! A real plow is expensive and before I know it I'll have a ton of cash in this thing. I dunno man.........
Joe
(Thanks again Hugh. You're always helpful)
Offer him $500, if he doesn't take it and you want it pay him the $580.
Ask yourself....do you want $80 more than the tractor? Would you let $80 keep you from buying it? I didn't think so. Buy the tractor and enjoy it.
It looks like it would be worth every bit of that, especiall if it runs good.
Consider how much a 3pt hitch like that would cost.....
Good luck and enjoy you new purchase.
Randy,
The question I have to ask myself is can I find enough gardens to plow to pay for it? This past year in Eastern West Va. was a disaster for gardens and I don't know how people are gonna respond to wanting gardens next year. I really don't have tons of cash to sling around but I'm not living on skid row either. I guess you could say I'm just a little on the cheap side.
Joe
Joe,
I certainly understand. If you wanted it just because you wanted it I would buy it...but if you only want it based on providing a plowing service with it I would still buy it!!!! Ahahahahahahah I know I helped you.
I would get over there and test that Hydro pretty quick. If it's good ,whip out that $580 and get out of there before he changes his mind. I had one of those GT's. I bought it in rough shape with only a blade. It was an absolute tank. I really didn't need it. I sold it after painting it and the people couldn't get the money out fast enough!:thThumbsU:thThumbsU:thThumbsU
Well, I'm gonna go see it this evening. I'll have the cabbage with me and if it looks good I'll try my best to weasel him down a little. (Anybody want to buy a 1977 Sears 14-6 with dirt plow, cultivators, discs, weights and chains?)
Not sure if this guy is dreaming since I'm not familiar with these GT-14s but here is one I found in Pa.......Just tractor and deck; nothing else, for the paltry sum of ....$1600.00. Anybody want to take the Sears 14-6 off my hands??
