MY 8199KT Tractor's pto driveshaft had come off at the deck end, dont know why but was able to put back on and put a new 1/4 inch by 2 inch bolt and nut back on it. had to replace a grease fitting at that end also . It is the only grease fitting on that shaft , is this correct???

The grease fitting that supplies grease to the slip joint? Yes, it may be the only grease fitting. Sometimes the U joints have grease fittings, sometimes not. I have seen tractors come from the factory with a grease fitting on one U joint and not on the other.

I have seen them with none, or both.

Re: Grease fittings on drive shaft of 60" deck?

I've sheared more of those u- joint bolts than I can count on my 60" deck. Solution for me was to cut threads into both sides of the yoke and run hardened hex cap screws in from both sides, effectively swedging them into the holes in the splined gearbox shaft. Double nut each one and a little Loctite on the threads also helps. Going on two years and no issues.

And credit goes to Sheldon for this idea. I see he has already answered your other question.
