Group,

Can you please post some pics as to how the custom convertible hood attaches at the front?

Is there a spacer inside the hood against the handle bars etc. I'm trying to attach a new/old hood to my family L8 tractor and I'm trying to configure it like it would have come from Gravely to maintain as much originality as possible. Although I'm not restoring the whole machine. I like the "used" look of a 55 year old family machine that still runs like the day it was purchased. But I don't want to just "rig" something together.

Thanks for any and all of your help!

Heres how mine looks, or one of them but they are the same.
They bolted straight on hard and for all I know they bolted on with the handle bars but Im gonna have to look at a cpl more pix for that.
But if they dont Im gonna put some kind of isolator in it where the bolts are, maybe a big grommet or something.

Here's the before & after of it, it was all beat-up red when I got it. That round spot on it is where I tested out the stripper on it.
Cant wait to put it on L mod. I have had that hood covered up gor a year now or more, aint even seen it. Got some stickers to put on it then give it a coat of turtle wax to keep it nice for a few yrs.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I went a little different angle on the attachment. I decided to install a rubber grommet in the holes on the hood. I then found a steel bushing that fit perfectly inside the grommet and would allow for the original bolts to be installed through the center of the bushing. That should make for a very nice tight, quiet, and rattle free installation. I'll post a pic of the setup soon.

Thats what Im gonna do w/the grommets and isolate the end of the hood a bit.
I got home late and it was dark and a bit cool but in some pics I can see where h-bars connect then a cpl more holes w/bolts threaded into them.
I was pretty concerned w/the rubber bumpers at the top of hood by fuel tank so I got from GT's a cpl pair of rubber bumpers/guards for the hood.
