Gravely 16G Pro, No lights, no spark, turns over fine but doesn't start

Hello there!
As noted in the title I went to start up my Gravely 16G Professional and it just turned over great but didn't start.
I've only used it 6 times since having it serviced and tuned up.
New plugs, hoses, filters, clutch/carb adjustments.
The only thing I've done to it since then is add two led lights, one in front on the blower, one in back on the fender above the engine and plugged a rotating amber light into the "cigarette lighter" outlet under the hood.
I've done my driveway 3 times in his condition so it worked well after I hooked the lights up this way. (ran for like 5 hrs) Parked it running fine.
I'm not sure what to start checking first, easiest check, then so on...
Thanks for any help you can give!
Dan

Start with the easy stuff....no spark..how did you determine that?...do you have fuel getting to the carb?did you knock any wires off? or caused wires to come in contact with the engine or chassis, causing a short?..Has adding these accessories caused a fuse to blow? Have you checked that PTO is off and that the seat switch is working properly?...I don't think it is a big problem...just a nuisance that should be fairly easy to trace....check the condition of the lighter that you mentioned...they get crummy and can cause problems as they age....let us know how it is going and if you get it resolved......and come back if you need more guidance....good luck

Any fuses on that machine?

Hi Mark,
There is power from the battery to the ignition switch and to the starter. It turns over great but no spark and no lights. I put a little gas in the carb to see if it wasn't getting fuel but it didn't pop so it must not be getting spark either. I checked and wiggled all he connections and they are all intact and are not all corroded. The wires I added are heavily coated and not shorting out. Where is the fuse for this? The PTO is off, the lighter socket is clean and not corroded. Where is the fuse located? If all that runs through a fuse, that would probably be the issue.

Hi Scott, I was just questioning Mark on that. I looked quick but did't see anything obvious in the ways of an inline fuse anywhere.
While we're thinking on it, check your grounds too just for giggles. Those electrons like to do a full lap.
DrZa....after posting I noticed that you mention that you have spark..and I edited my questions...the fact that there is no popping does not necessarily guarantee no spark
Also....what did you attach your new lights to...other than the lighter?...follow wires one at a time from the ignition switch...does any one of them go into a fuse block?...are there original equipment lights?....if so follow the wires from them ..one will go to ground...one will go to a power source...usually a fuse block
+1 on the basics. Check grounds, check fuses. You can also get out a multi-meter and check voltage at the ignition components.

Very quick check for spark: Pull the plugs, stick 'em on the engine with the leads connected, and crank briefly. That will leave no doubt as to whether you're getting a spark.
What year is this tractor? "cigarette lighter" under the hood? I've never seen that from the factory on a G series?. Older GRAVELY riders did have one in the dash.

Most common cause for this problem - seat switch, engine relay, seat switch delay timer. There are also a safety interlock switches on the PTO lever and the forward reverse clutch linkage.

Do you know your actual model number from the tag under the hood? Is the a Kohler M18 twin?

There is only one fuse and it would prevent the engine from cranking.

Adding LED lights should be no issue, but any lighting that draws too much current will burn up the accessory side of the ignition switch or the connector at the switch.

Do you have a wiring diagram? It should be similar to this one:

Hope this helps,

Sheldon
Some years ago I had a similar problem. Ran great. Parked it. No start.

I checked all sorts of things. Nothing. I posted here. Tried a bunch of perfectly logical suggestions.

Through it all I failed to notice the PTO was in the fully engaged position. I have NO idea how that happened but it did. I disengaged it and VROOOOM!

Every now and then a safety is tripped that isn't obvious, Forward or reverse slightly engaged is the most common.

Right. But those safetys will prevent even cranking. Drza's original post said it's turning over, but not firing. That's why I'm thinking something in the ignition.
Check the air gap on the magneto.
OP thinks no spark, just because it did not fire when he poured fuel into the carb...it really has not been checked with a tester or as advised ( in post #8) pulling the plug and grounding it to the chassis to see if there is any visible spark
My 16G has the wrong solenoid installed. And will crank with out being in neutral, but won't start unless your on the seat, or realize and pull the forward and reverse to neutral. Also could be flooded if the carb leaked threw
