I cut my Grandparent's yard Friday and thought I'd share some pics of one of their vintage mowers. Its a 1970 Toro 19" whirlwind with a tecumseh LAV30 engine. He also has a second one set up for mulching. I just scored him an NOS side discharge chute on ebay, waiting for it to arrive. People always complain about tecumseh but these have been great engines, mowing a 1/2 acre yard with lots of roots, lots of dust, and a steep slope, I think he is only on his second engine, which was borrowed off another old toro. I don't think a briggs would have held up as well under the conditions.

Too cool!:bannana:

I have an old Tecumsah on a Troy Built Horse model and went through some aggravation w/it but I have to agree a B&S wouldn't have cut it. :goodl:

Nice Toro you got there, love the look of that Tecumseh engine, oil bath airfilter and all.

Might as well pick it up, sounds/looks like a good mower to me.
