Hi all!!
Ever since i was a kid back in the 70's i wanted a JD mower. When i moved out and got my ownplace all i could afford was a 97 Sears GT.And it still runs great!Evan after 14 years.I wanted a HD garden tractor and newer one.Didnt want to restore or fix anything major. So it was a toss between a 05' X485 or 04'X495.I finally picked the x485 and let me tell you its one big, powerfull, yet quiet and smooth running tractor ive ever road on.And with it being just like a x720 with 2 less hp i knew it had to be HD.
The guy who had it took really good care of it,I mean REALLY good care.267hrs all maintence done,he evan ran syenthic oils! Not one scratch on tractor, the deck looks new too.I mean it has maybe 2 or 3 rub or scrtaches. Its that good. I kind of felt bad at the price i paid but its a buyers market right now,and i OR we all deserve a break sometimes.
Now my questions to you all
I want to add a 3 point hitch is the "Ruegg MFG LLC " good ones?
I also want a rear PTO is it safe to get one on ebay?
Later ill get a front blade or loader.
Whats a good price for all these?
Also anyone have any tips or things i might want to also do for maintence?Or things i might need to know abt this model?
Im a freak with maintence, heck my Sears at 14y is still strong!I want this one to outlast me.
ill try to add pics of both...
thanks in advance

Hi Summers,

Real nice Tractor you have there. I can see from here its been kept clean and in perfect shape.

About buying on Ebay. I think its in your best interest to try to buy local so you can see what your getting. Sometimes applications change and a power takeoff for one year may be totally different for the next. Ebay overall has been a good experience for me. Ive found parts through Ebay that I would not have found anywhere else. I do the research that it takes to know, without a doubt, what Im buying or selling. Ive also made some nice friends and acquaintances there too. I try to buy from individuals rather than company's if possible.

I did have an Ebay dispute with a Pawn Shop in Alabama which puzzled me. I was the buyer in this 'for instance'. First off the seller had taken his pictures of a chainsaw in a willfully deceptive fashion. He was trying to hide damage which consisted of a large hole on the front of the unit where the oil tank was located. When the saw showed up on my end, this big hole in the front of the unit was to be explained away as shipping damage. Seller went as far as to start a claim with UPS saying to me that I would receive a new saw from UPS for shipping damage. I would not let this fly for one second. The damage on the saw showed a failed repair attempt via "Tiger Hair' body repair fiberglass. Needless to say that he ate this one, PayPal returned my funds. UPS closed the damage claim. I offered to return the saw on the sellers dime but never heard a word...

Caveat emptor should be in big red bold letters before the word Ebay!

Best wishes,
Bob
