First negative thing I have knowingly heard about them. Other people have recommended them to others. Hopefully he'll correct the problem and try to make you happy again.
Call him up and let him know about the bad float. If enough of us complain mabey he will refund us the cost.DO NOT order ANYTHING from Gary's Place. I got a brass float along with a carb kit from him less than 2 weeks ago. I figured a float is a float so I got his ($20) to save a little money compared to the genuine Onan one (~$40). BAD idea. I've had the float in the tractor for less than half an hour of run time and one of the pontoons is full of gas.
I'd be happy with a replacement but i'm sure of all of his are CRAP. Doubt he'll refund me though. :1106:
It seems to me contacting Gary first to get his input before complaining on an open forum would be more appropriate. If he then refuses to correct the problem then certainly you should let others like me know via the forum.I bought a replacement float and a DD15 rebuilt kid from him with no problems...just another data point.

Then he deserves the bad press he is getting. He refused to replace my bad float.
This was the treatment I got , except I got NO refund.By this time it had escalated into him getting angry with me like it was my fault. The he asked "Well what do you want me to do about it?" I said I want my money back. So i'm sending the float back and he's going to refund me for the float and shipping it back to him. I'm happy with the resolution, but his attitude towards customer service still sucks and now I have to wait for a new genuine Onan float.
I agree, it's not completely his fault. But no one is making him sell them. He sells lots of other parts, Onan and other brands that work fine. If he's smart he'd stop selling these.Yes
That is exactly how my cheapo float arrived. The problem really is the with the manufacturer (In china or whatever overseas country it is made and packaged in) Gary has bought the floats and is now selling them to unhappy customers. This is unfortunate, but that is the way it works in capitalism
Gary is sourcing the floats and they are less expensive than oem, but I think we can agree, at least with this item, that the cheap imitation float is simply not up to the task.
That's ridiculous. Maybe the only reason he's refunding me is because of all the complaints. This was the treatment I got , except I got NO refund.
What's up Bub? I do believe you were a person who had metioned them to other people. Think about how much the Onan parts cost from places like Sears and some other places. Can everybody just get along?i bought one from him with no issues- still running. it came in a plastic bag, in a bigger box, full of foam peanuts as i remember. i have bought from him and the other retailer on ebay (forget his name) and both are fine.
