Is anyone 'overloaded' by their garden yet? Seems we've had the Horn of Plenty open up in the last couple weeks.Getting about a gallon of Blackberries every other day, potatoes need digging, squash is full blast,Okra is coming strong, getting about of bushel of tomatoes every other day, green beans are
loaded, about given up keeping up with the cucumbers. But hey today I'm going to plant some more Green Beans, squash and Blackeye peas they all should make it before frost. Then it'll be planting Mustard Salad and Turnips about mid August.

Pumpkin vines are taking over the blue spruce and lilac trees that are on one side of the garden. Got pumpkins up on them, too.
Got 2 winter squash growing. No cukes or mellons that I can find, just alot of vine.
Radishes have no body on them, just long stalk, then go to seed.
Carrots didn't come up. Beans and peas, also.
Beets are nice and big and round.
Third serving of strawberries, the bugs are geting to them before I do.
Store bought seed potatoes are pushing up some great bushes. Been hilling around them daily.
All the 'vine' veggie plants are taking over the entire garden, to the extent you can't see what else is in there, except these large green leaves. Weeds don't thrive in there.
Awesome sight from the roadway, big green leaves in the garden and over the surrounding trees.
Got 2 plantings of tomatoes, early planting is in regular dirt and has green fruit. Second planting, 2 weeks later, in leaf mulch, has flowers, no fruit. All plants about 3 - 4 ft. high.
So far, one main garden plus 3 raised beds, not counting the various 'flower' gardens around the acreage.

So, as a novice blackberry grower, I was wondering, how many feet of row does it take to get;

"gallon of Blackberries every other day"

:dunno:

This is our first year with blackberries, next year should be crazy!! :praying:

This is our first year real primocane growth.

The pic is from July 17, they have grown quite a bit since then.

The primocanes were cut at about six feet to force the sucker growth.

I have 2 rows about 40 ft long, last year they had very few berries but then the chickens and ducks spent the year under them for shade and just a place to lie around and I put lots of Planters II on them also. The canes are about 7ft tall and loaded with berries they are starting to taper off some but will still have berries for about another month I'm guessing.Have no idea what the variety is but the stock originally came from a lady thats been growing them for about 40 years.I
'm going to add 2 more rows this Fall when I trim the canes back and the dig up the ones that have bent over and rooted.

I have the red ones like that, but, the deer and birds harvest them the day before we try! :crybaby:

The red raspberries are being heavily controlled this year because we heard they have a disease that is hard on the black variety.

We bought 3 varieties.

No thorns :fing32:

A few large thorns that you can avoid :hide:

LOTS of tiny thorns that will eat you UP! :crybaby:

We will let all of the types grow for a couple years then we will decide which is best and propagate those.
