My Sears manual had a page schematic of the G7 Hydro unit but it was so lightly printed it was illegible. Me being the wanna-be engineer, I always love to see "inside" so I emailed Hydro Gear to get the PDF document for the G7 series Hydro's (they should have this stuff posted on their web site, they could eliminate a LOT of emails). Click the link below to download the .PDF file (Requires at minimum, Adobe Acrobat Reader).

Thanks for the schematic. I did a quick look and did not see one. Is there a filter that you can replace on these, or is it just a drain then you refill them?

You didn't see the big automotive type filter on the side of the housing in the photos I posted, or the schematic? :) It's there.... I'm just not sure how you drain the hydro unit, I don't see a typical drain plug.

It looks like you would just unbolt the charge pump cover, to drain the oil. Same as you would do on the on the 3000 series transaxle.

Glenn,

I agree and I suggested that in another topic but wasn't 100% sure, so I prefaced it with "If I am mistaken, please correct me".

I would remove the charge pump cover, looks easy to do, uses an O-Ring etc.

It shows "4" as a plug, maybe that could drain. Fill using the breather "216".
The filter is might be the suction type. It didn't say how much oil it holds.

#4-plug is the oil check/fill plug. When the oil is level with the bottom of the this hole, the trans oil is at the correct level.
