The front wheels on my G12 are sized to carry the 16x6.50-8 tire. I'm not a fan of wide front tires on a tractor; did any Bolens models come with the narrow 4.80-8 rims, as some Cub Cadets and virtually all Simplicitys?

If so, will they fit on a G12?

As long as it allows a 3/4 inch axle you can stick it on there. Might have to add some spacers if it is much shorter than the axle. Whatever you prefer is the right choice.

Those tri-rib tires look pretty thin up front. They will cut into turf.

Thanks for the info!

Turf? My tractors work for a living - they don't do turf! :D

Seriously, I use these things for garden and farm utility work and I want side load skid resistance. The reason for the narrow rims is to be able to mount a 3-rib tire, which is the best kind I've found for making turns in dirt under a load.

3 ribs will keep your front end from sliding off a hillside also. I have them on my 1225. Only problem is they're hard on the steering assembly ( had to take the front wheel weights off).

Peruse the list for
16/6.50-8 4 Firestone 3-Rib Front Tractor B $70.00

However, if you can get some 3.5 width rims, then 3.5x8 tri rib is $30 each
