After a long winter of tinkering (including brazing a stud onto the exhaust flange) I finally got my LI started today!

The weird thing is that I could only get it to move with the PTO disengaged. I didn't have an attachment on it. Is that normal?

Has the drive pinion shaft slid out? If you're right on the edge, engaging/disengaging the PTO might make that difference.

Lokkit that! I was able to just push it back. I'm guessing having an attachment on would keep it from creeping?

Thanks!
Right.

No beating required.

The pinion shaft is normally kept in place by the attachment. If running without and attachment, there's a blockoff plate with a bolt in the middle which serves the same purpose.
