I was just looking through old posts when I saw one titled 214 mower deck belt routing. This reminded me of a couple years back when I put new bearings in my 46" deck off of my 214. I could not figure out how to route the belt. It was a hot summer day, the lawn needed to be mowed, I was sweating like crazy tryin to figure the darn thing out. My wife tried asking me a question and picked up on the vibe "now was not a good time". After about 30 minutes I got it, and boy did I feel like I really accomplished something! Just then my wife came in and I told her I figured it out as I was getting ready to put the cover back on the deck. She asked me what the picture was on the inside of the mower deck cover. Im sure you know what it was, the belt routing diagram!:banghead3 Just thought Id share as I got a chuckle remembering it!

A buddy of mine was cursing one day that the blades that he had sharpened were ruined by the local shop. He had to get new blades now and would never go to that shop again. Look how those blades are tearing up his yard he says. I looked under the deck then told him " Turn your blades over the right way and I bet they will cut better, he never mentioned those blades again.

Same type of situation, bought a deck and took the guys word for it. Blades were on up side down. I wasn't upset, just took about a week to figure it out after checking everything else.

I must be getting old, becasue whenever I have a problem I assume it was me that caused it !

At least starting in that position prevents DUMB calls and trips to the dealer or posts to blame deere :)
