I really hope somebody can help me figure out what this is. There is an area of my lawn that has turned brown. It has been like that for several weeks but the grass isn't dying. The brown blades are still soft and flexible so I assume they aren't dead.

This morning I noticed very tiny pink blossoms on the grass only in those areas. Is this characteristic to a particular type of fungus or disease? Thanks

Thank you JimD. It appears as if that is exactly what it is. Nitrogen and water should clear it up according to the article. I haven't fertilized the backyard, where it is visible, since May so it could probably use a dose of nitrogen. Thanks.
