I found ethanolized rubber parts in my fuel system so I elected to remove and clean the tank, replace the fuel lines (and then clean the carb)

Not too tough of a job to replace fuel lines but I seem to have screwed it up?

I am getting drips of gas coming out of the fuel pump, through the fuel pump vent hole?

What could I have done to cause this??, stumped on this one...

checked all fuel connections no leak from the gas line connection points...

(note: b4 the fuel line replacement no fuel leak)

It is strange to find a leak just from installing new fuel hose on the pump. Is there a change you may have bent or broken the inlet or outlet metal tubing on the pump trying to remove the rubber hose? The fuel pump may have been leaking before and you just found the leak when replacing those new hoses.
The pump does have a diaphragm and will leak if the pump is bad. John Deere wants two arms and two legs for a new one.
