So question on some front tires. I mostly use my bx1800 for mowing some pretty steep terrain and I got a blade for snow so it doesn't "work" hard really. My rear tires are already super lug agricultural tires and the front tires are typical turf savers. The rear ones are like new and the front ones are old and its about time for new ones. The size is 18x8.5-8. I had acquired some tires from a friend but sadly they were 18x8.5-10. Cant use them and I was bummed out when I didn't pay attention to the wheel size. oh well.. My main question is about the type of tire. Even in 4x4 this bx1800 doesn't tear up the yard at all when turning, but If I were to get some similar super lug style tires in the front would I notice a huge difference? I actually don't mind the turf savers in the front and the 4x4 works exceptionally well. I was trying to find some HDAP tires but I could only find 16x8.5-8. I did find some 18-9.5-8, would those be too wide with the weight the bx1800 has? Thanks!

The 18’s are probably not too wide, but they are too tall. They will put too much stress on your 4wd components. And that would be an issue since you did say you use the 4wd. The front to rear diameter ratio needs to stay the same as it was.

The wider tires will have better flotation, but may also cause interference when making a sharp turn when the axle is tilted to its limits in either direction.

You may already be out of limits for tire diameters in relation to the 4wd with turfs on the front and ags on the rear. Just because it works well in 4wd doesn't necessarily mean that it is correct. The turfs may be skidding during turns in soft conditions which puts unnecessary strain on the front axle gears when they have some bite on a firm surface. On asphalt, that can lead to expensive repairs.

I rarely use the 4wd when mowing, only in one place and I was concerned about the 4wd binding. I was able to find a second set of wheels and tires for $50 on the fb marketplace! Fortunately they are the exact same ag tire! I didn’t have any issues mowing or yard tearing up with them too.
