I have the chance to get a John Deere 116 for nothing. Here are the finer points:
Missing the motor. Other than that which is major the mowing deck looks good. Front tires are okay. Back tires are brand new ag bar style. So new they still have the nibs on the face of the tires. Transmission is to be okay as of when the motor was taken out. Was told it worked well until the motor was taken out for other uses. Sheet metal and hood look straight. Needs repainting. It belongs to my boss right now and wants to give it to me.

Would you take a free 116 less a motor?

Ya, but I already have a 2006 John Deere 102 as you see to the left and a 1986 John Deere 420 that I am rebuilding and thinking of using it in garden tractor pulling. Garage is filling up. What do I do? Move the wife out? :ROF Maybe make the 116 into a small garden tractor puller. His and her's pullin' tractors? HMMMMMMM:bannana: How much would it cost to put a new heart in the 116? Used or new?

What would you put into it for a motor? Was toying with the idea of a small diesel. Just for the look, sound and of course power.

Update:Not a John Deere 116 but a 111 for FREE

Update. Upon further examination it is not a 116 but a 111 but the same deal goes. FREE with new rear ag bar tires and no motor. Got to see it this morning up close for the first time. Was told it was a 116. There are no markings on the tractor. But I checked the serial no. tag and it a 111. 38 inch mower deck in good shape. Still take it due to free?

Small Engine Warehouse currently does not list a replacement engine, but that doesn't mean you can't get one, just that they haven't come up with anything brand new that will drop in. Still take the tractor for free. The parts will sell on Ebay, especially the tires and wheels, and if the hood is uncracked, that is a popular item to sell. Parting it out, you could make around $200 +/-

Re: Free John Deere 111 with pics.

Got the 111 home. Here are a few pics of it. Not the greatest pics. Took with the cell phone. So be the judge of the free John Deere 111 without the motor. The mower deck is almost perfect. Look at those new rear tires.

Ya, it is green. So the garage (barn) is getting full. Quite the heard of Deeres. Got the 420, 102 and now a 111. How many deeres does a guy need for a 5000 sq. ft. yard?:ROF Might have a shot at a motor that is operating on a junk tractor. The price is to be cheap. A friend of mine dad has a tractor that is a frame disaster but the engine is in good shape. Everyone is helping to bring the 111 back to life.
