I am always looking on Craigslist to see if I can find attachments for my 2006 Cub Cadet GT2550 and last week I found a plow for a 2000 series. I was waitiing to hear back from the guy before finding out if it would work on my 2550. I didnt hear anything back so I figured it was sold. Monday I go tan email from the guy and he said it was still available and it turns out it was my parent's neighbor that was selling it. I called the dealer and the said it would fit, so I went over after work to look at it. I bought it for $100 and he even threw in a set of chains. Even though I have a nice MTD 8 hp snowblower, I can't wait to use this thing.

Good for you 100 is a steal imo. Back in the day I use to snowblow but we've been plowing now for over 20 yrs. Plowing isn't as neat as sno-blowing but it's way faster.

Never lock you plow in...you actually want in to fold down when your moving fast with snow. You can lock it down when you spread loose driveway aggregate/loose topsoil because your just creeping along.

Thanks for the advise. Yeah, I couldnt turn it down for that kinda money. I am concerned about beating up my concrete driveway with those chains. I would like to find some weights to see if that would be sufficient for traction. I was thinking about seeing if I could rig something up where i could put weights on the bagger bracket in the back. Has anyone done that?

The manual that came with my 2-bag bagger says that the bracket doubles as a weight bracket. I don't think I could put any more than 2 on it though, because of some angled cuts. I believe the mounting bracket is the same for 2 and 3-bag baggers, so you should be good to go.

As for chains on concrete, I have some experience with that. The first winter I had my tractor I had chains on turfs. The following Spring I got to see what that did to my neighbors driveway (marks all over) as well as parts of my lawn, and decided to go with ags and more weight. Since then I haven't done any damage to my yard or my neighbors driveway. And the only traction issue I've ever had was on a large section of ice in the road, where the chains would have been superior.

400 I plow on gravel, which imo is worse than concrete or tarvia because it spreads gravel to the grass where it ?can? be a mow hazzard.

The way I avoid that is to lower the shoes so I'm always leaving 3" or more of snow in the driveway. Once we have I good base I lower the shoes to float on the hard packed base.

Chains will leave white scour marks on tarvia but I dunno about concrete cause that is way way upscale and really don't know.

With radial tires it don't matter if you have a little snow in the drive way...they are a God send over old school bias tires.

And always let your plow float don't lock it in.

I went over to Farm and Fleet where I bought my Cub and they didnt know anything about the bagger bracket doubling as a weight bracket. They did have bracket that I could buy and it was $130 plus $115 each for 40lb suitcase weights....ouch!! They also had the 50lb wheel weights for $115 a pair. That seems to be a much better option. I am going to look more into what it would take to use the bagger bracket to hold weight before making a decision. I think I have the manual for the bagger so I will check that out when I get home.

Wow, that's really expensive pricing. I was able to pick up 2 John Deere weights for $45.00 each at a dealer. (I did spray paint them black) and then I bought 2 Cub Cadet weights which were already black and don't have a design to them for about $65.00 each. My weight bracket was a little over $100.00 brand new from ebay.

I found my manual for the triple bagger and it didnt mention anything about it doubling as a weight bracket. I think that I am going to make a piece so that I can use it as a weight bracket though. If I cant find any wheel weights cheap then I will make up a piece and use what I have.

Well if you didn't already buy them try plowing without 'em. We abandoned weights and filled tires years ago for year around chains and have no regrets...none.
I havent bought anything yet, but I did figure out how I can use the bagger bracket to hold weights. I have to make a piece for the weights to sit on but it wont cost much and I am getting some plastic concrete weights for free to put on it. I will give that a try. I will post up some picks when I get it done. If that doesnt work I am going to look for an extra set of wheels and try out some AG tires. Chains are actually my last option since I dont want to take the chance of ruining my driveway.
