Hello!

Here is pictures of my Ford mower, which I´ve been working on lately.
As You can see, it started it´s life as a Lawn-Boy, but because it is extremely hard to find a Ford mower here or buy one from USA, I think I can live with it. After all they are almost exacly same products.

I have no pictures how it was when I started, but I havent fixed mower deck yet, so You can see it´s condition. Mower was a bit better.

It has been all in pieces, rust removed, painted etc. Cause I´m a hotrodder, it has now 16.5hp twin (with 12.5hp decals from eBay). Engine came from eBay UK, cause they are too hard to find here in reasonable price. It was in perfect condition exept starter, which came from eBay Germany.

It´s painted in my work, white parts by me and blue parts by my boss.

Decals came from George and Brenda Bradish/georgebradishtractorparts.

Ford body plate is custom made by my friends friend.

Tires are Oregon and I found them from local shop.

I wish I someday can find correct grille and seat, and maybe even black decals for dash.

I also made custom rear lights and front parking lights so I can cruise around our village in the evenings...

That looks better than "factory new", now to get rid of that green color on the mower deck.:sidelaugh

That is beautiful MK. Amazing job. I actually like the lawn boy grill compared to the Ford equivilant.

Can you post pictures in the "Lets see your pictures ford style" thread, that is a very nice machine that deserves to be seen.

Welcome from ontario canada:). Nice to see some Fords (well lawnboy is close enough), made it that far around the world. Very cool

Mikey.

MK in Finland, Great looking Ford, and I do mean Ford. When LawnBoy bought out Gilson Bros, they made the same tractor and painted them blue and white for Ford, just as you have. I too prefer that grill to the mesh you see over here, I would keep it. And the nice high back seat, I'd keep that too. A little comfort never hurt anyone.

It was interesting to hear how you got parts from so many different countries. Could you tell us approximate prices you paid so we can compare to here?

And,:MTF_wel2: from Ontario Canada and glad you chose Ford:fing32:.

Beautiful machine and very well detailed.

Thank You all for nice comments!!!

I like also that lawnboy grille more than Ford, but I still may want to change it if I can found it someday. And yes, that seat is comfortable, but lower blue seat would maybe look a little better. Anyway I´m glad that people like it! I do too.

Prices for parts are about: 300 euros for engine shipped to front door, 35 euros for starter, 200 euros for tires, 100 euros for decals.

This thing came to me with exploded original 12 hp engine, so it had to be changed anyway. I found couple 16-18hp twin engines here in Finland, but they were priced from 500 euros-up... People are probably thinking they are made of gold.....

Larry: I chose Ford about 35 years ago. I currently have 2 US and 2 European Fords. And my wife has 2 US Fords too...

It was my long time dream to have this kind of mower. I still want older one too someday.

Mikey: Thanks for tip. I post pictures there too.

Hey Make, thanks for pricing. I see things are not cheap there either. And yes, some people think they are sitting on Gold. Same thing here, have to really watch for the bargains and move quickly.

Good to see you bleed Ford Blue. You probably follow some Ford car forums as well.

Do you see many of the older Ford garden tractors there ('60s-'70s) ? We have seen some Jacobsen (Orange Fords) in the past. It would be nice to know if they were marketed in Europe, as Fords as well, and see some pics if you come across some.

Yep, I do follow a few Ford car forums too. My current project car is european Granada, so now I usually search things for it.
Otherwise mostly visited forums are: crownvicnet, sccoa, explorerforum, etc.

And of course eBay is good friend to my very long time project car, ´64 Mercury Park Lane. I try to buy some parts for it when ever I have money to spend (which is not often). I have bought some parts from Canada too, from Meteor car. Maybe fuel tank door and something?

About Ford garden tractors: I have seen one Ford LT here (plus my lt) and thats it. They are rare. There have been 2 different ones for sale by the years. Thats all. And I have been trying to buy one for years, so I have been looking ads and everything.
Never seen older Fords and overall older lawn/garden tractors are very rare here (pre-80´s).

Maybe we have so small gardens here, that people can do their lawn by push mower??? It was late 80´s when these garden tractors became more popular.

Other hand, Ford farm tractors are opposite, they were very popular in past, and there are still lot of them in use and for sale.

Hi Make, Wow, shipping must cost you a fortune. '64 Park lane, that had the back slope rear window didn't it? A true classic.

GTs were popular here in the '60s and '70s when everybody had a garden but since the '80s, everything comes from big box grocery stores. Even out of season things can be here from Florida or California in 24 - 48hrs. Home gardening for any amount of food is rare now so actual GTs are also more rare. Mostly surburban grass cutters out there now. Maybe this is why they went after the European market in the '80s as you say.

There are '60s &'70s Ford GTs coming up for sale here everyday with the look of the full sized Ford tractors. Too bad we couldn't ship you a Sea Can full.

Although not tractors, pics of "European Fords" would be great. We just do not get to see them here.

Yes, shipping is quite expensive, that´s why I try to buy only small parts from there...
My Merc do have that "cheese slicer" rear window, which is great. `64 Mercury also had normal window style, but only HT models. My car is sedan (which is of course better...).

I asked few years ago shipping price for mower, and I got about 400-500 dollars for answer. It is not so bad if mower itself is almost free. But problem is that that mower should be near shipping point (Florida), so it would not have to travel across North America, cause it costs too.

I try to post few pics of my Euro-Fords in near future!

Your pricing for shipping sounds very accurate. I knew a fellow a few years ago who was crating and shipping used motorcycles home to Portugal and the cost then was $500. The cost of the motorcycles was considerably more, but for some reason, the pricing in Portugal was much much higher still, so it was worth his while. I believe his brother then sold them there and they split the profit.

This would not be bad shipping a complete restored tractor for you, but having to ship all the replacement pieces later would get expensive doing the restore yourself.

Hello, do you have any suggestions on where to get parts for a Ford LT12? My father passed away and he really loved his Lt12. I am looking to get a few parts that have broken since his passing. LIke a seat and a gas cap with the gauge in it.
