All... I recently purchased a ford 4500 with 3 cyl diesel... and the gauge (which does not look orginal and may not even be working right) says well over 80 psi (pinned after 80psi) for oil pressure

what is "normal" for this beast of an engine?

thanks,

Kenny

I have a (non-ford) mechanical gauge screwed into the block. Runs about 50 with a good deal of fluctuation (a better setup with have a snubber or tiny hole in the system to reduce stress on the gauge.) You might have a stuck relief valve?

First I am going to unscrew that mechanical gauge and put a new one in there.... That will rule out the gauge. Then Ill go from there, but I thought over 80 sounded high.

Thanks, Kenny
