one thing we learned
is when you lose interest
in a hobby don't get rid
of the stuff
we're going to hang on to
our little first act guitar a long time
have all accessories for it
except thin picks
anybody know how picks are sized for thickness?
is it in millimeters or thin, med and thick?

The picks I have are sized in millimeters: .50mm thin, .60mm med./thick. I have a new Fender blacktop telecaster coming in this week!

Well to answer... Yes. :D

Diferent companys do things different... But most use MM's Frankly there is MUCH more choises then thin, med, and thick..There are larger size ones, smaller size, smooth, rough, plastic, bone metel.... Most any music store will have a box with all diferent sizes, and shapes... Best to get a hand full of them, and pick what you like best... Or just ditch them like I did, and learn to play fingerstyle. [OK I still use them once in a wile to get that sound... but not often..]

thank you jd5105 and ingersoll
we'll stick with standard size and
probably it's the nylon we
used to use
took a quick look at Musician's Friend and
think they have variety pack
of thicknesses
they carry Dunlap picks
that sounds familiar or
maybe it was Fender picks
we use to use

whether we were getting
dunlap's or fenders
yes have seen guitarist's with
long fingernails on right hand
not our thing
we use thin picks for
playing chords and
getting tone we like

And there are the metal ones that wrap around your fingers and thumb that the finger pickers use. Also the goose feather preferred by traditional dulcimer players.

thank you lillys dad
those maxi grip dunlap's
in very thin
seem darn close to
what we're thinking of

leave the soloing to
someone else
that's a whole world of
it's own there

we're willing to learn something
what's a blacktop?

they have a LOT of difrent models/levels now.

Ive seen the add for those blacktops but did not know much about them. Not a huge fan of the fender feel myself... but thats why they make diferent brands. :D

thank you ingersol
most electric guitars fall into
one of two groups
fender strat type
3 single pickups with 5 way switch or
gibson type
2 double pickups with a 3 way switch
we were getting a certain tone with
Peavey Predator that looked like
strat from far away but had Gibson controls

ingersol
that's basically gibson controls and
they jumped ship a little
and put in an extra single pickup
and strat type switch
original gibson is two humbuckers and
flip switch
all pickup layouts can be
compared to original
strat, tele and gibson setups
like this Squier Bullet is
strat minus one control knob
