I have a 1977 5260 with a 8hp Kohler. Problem is the sticker on the engine where the serial numbers and such should be has worn to the point where you can not read them.

These stickers instead of data plates make me want to scream, but anyways.....

How can I tell a serial number without it?? I am trying to look up all the parts I need to get for the motor, but every time I need a serial number and there are far too many on the list to try and guess.

Anyone got an engine serial number from a year close to mine that should get me the right parts????

Thanks!!

Take a blacklight and shine it on the tag. Alot of times you can then see the numbers.
