So I wanted to give my new (to me) mower a tune up since I am not sure of the service history on it. I think the main things to hit are the Air, Fuel, and Oil filters, change the oil, and inspect the belts and blades, replace if needed.

I am a gear head, but have no idea where the best place is to pick up the filters, and belt/blades if they need replacing.

I have a Sears parts/repair center that carries this stuff, but I am not sure if they are overpriced or not.

Anyone have any advice on where to pickup parts for the DGS6500 model 28750 w/B&S 26HP ELS?

Cool thanks.

I am getting feeling that I will be better served getting the part numbers from the filters and such and shopping the net using cross refferences. I think that I will get it all from the sears part center locally for the 1st go round, then buy a backup set online at lower prices.

Yeah so I just got off the phone with Ryan at the local sears parts store and the stuff they don't stock, and the other half is dipped in gold apparently since the air filter they sell is a combined $25, more than the air filter on my 2007 Tundra. The Oil filter is encrusted with gemstones for $15, again more than my trucks filter. So thats the end of that. I will be ordering my first set of parts online as soons as I get all the part numbers.

Maybe they forgot they were selling mower parts not Ferrari parts...

I use the NAPA Gold oil filters (made by Wix) on my 26 hp. Kohler. As I remember they cost about $5.
I buy the long ones, part #1516.

I put on a K&N air filter that cost $36 including shipping direct from K&N. It's the only air filter I'll ever have to buy for this tractor.

The Walmart ST3600 is a very good oil filter, it has synthetic filter media instead of paper, high quality internals and it is larger than stock, plus it's black and match's my DGS. Oh and they're a little over $2.
