I have searched for a while now. I am looking for pictures of John Deere Garden Tractors that were painted and used by Federal, State, County agencies or by Commercial Factory locations. I am hoping to see some pictures of these type of paint themes schemes that I can brainstorm with for my upcoming 140 H1 restoration project. I am thinking about doing an Orange Virginia Department of Transportation paint scheme.

So please post up pictures of these cool tractors. I have seen a few on here but can't find the pictures now. Thanks.

I actually took a photo of a yellow highway department Deere 400. at a rest area, but my camera decided to be a gonner and it and every photo since until I round filed it came out super over exposed. I guess a yellow Deere broke the camera. It did have all the decals on it, and I don't know if it was factory or just a nice redo. I don't even know what State I was in now, but it was on vacation to Texas.

Seems to me years ago many agencies would have special paint schemes on there equipment, but now it's either a factory tractor color, or safety yellow which to me is green. Just for giggles I did a few searches on Google and looks like not many if any photo's were taken years ago.

I Know the Navy also Painted the JD 140's Grey as well. In the Army I Never Saw a Garden or Lawn size Tractor Deere Painted anything but John Deere Green. But did see a few On Air Forces Bases painted Olive Drab or Air force Blue They were 400’s and 420’s The smallest Stuff that Deere Made In Olive drab or Camouflage was the Gators Otherwise know as the M-Gator and a certain S-3 Operations Sergeant (Master Sergeant) Your’s truly would fine any excuse To drive them In The field or in Afghanistan:thThumbsU

John Deere never made any factory "industrial" version garden tractors but they did offer to paint them any color requested up until about 1975 then only green was available in the GT line. Even if John Deere painted a GT a different color at the factory the serial number will almost always show it as green because it's no different than the average GT other than color.
True industrial John Deere tractors were built with reinforced frames, a stronger PTO and extra holes in the frame for more add on features. The serial number will also reveal it to be a true industrial John Deere such as this one.

I see no value increase in any GT painted a different color unless it was actually owned by the United States and tagged Unites States Government property, I saw a 140, 400 & 430 with US property tags in the past which would make them a little more valuable.

I had no idea either... everything around here is either big stuff in highway yellow or the smaller stuff mostly CUT's in standard production colors. Local city has a JD CUT with a cab on it (must have A/C too, since I'm in FL) and all they use it for is a hydro driven sweeper on the front.

Well When I have seen small stuff Like Deere Garden tractors Painted On Military Installations That was Usually done On the Installation or the Local Dealer did it for them. My Last Infantry Brigade Painted Simplicity Sunstars Olive Drab For one they Uses at the brigade Motor Pool For some reason Deere Products used On Fort Drum Usually stayed Deere color unless It was Construction Level equipment and That was Olive Drab or Woodland Camouflage and Those Came in by Rail they were Olive drab and they would Be Painted By the Installation in either Woodland or Desert Camouflage as I stated Before the only Small stuff that Came In Not Painted Deere Green was the M-Gators:thThumbsU
