Kubota T1600 diesel 1100 hours
Hi, all, it's Sept. 2012, I'm a new guy here at MyTractorForum, born in the Dark Ages, 'handy with tools' but not a genuine wrencher/mechanic.
I believe machines and tools are “Toys For Grown-up Boys”.
I live on a place I don't own with 3 acres of lawn with scattered obstacles all over (gardens, shrubs, trees), plus more acres of rough ground we cut wide walking paths through.
I've been cutting this for many years with a Husq 21” walk-behind (yes) and a Troy-Bilt 24” walk-behind commercial unit on the rougher ground.
I am not kidding. 21" walk-behind. It all gets long, I can't keep up.
Later, in a few months, we want to get a tough machine like (dream) Deere X740 or (dream) Kubota GR2120, strong for the rough stuff, clean for lawn.
BUT *Right Now* at least a basic lawn tractor for a few months while we shop for a “dream machine”.
We have a couple of genuine small-engine mechanics nearby, lucky us.
So:
Craigslist right now (September 2012) has a
Kubota T1600HST diesel, 1,100 hours for $1,500.
Owner says runs great, recent service, all fluids change, new battery, new ignition switch, new computer box, 2 new front tires.
Only info on Kubota.com is un-dated press release, I cannot find years built.
Is T1600 a series, not exact model? There's a T1670 on CompactTractorReview.
Maybe T1600 / T1670 is earlier model of current T1880? (Kubota.com 2012 has a T1880, Kohler gas 18hp, (no diesel option) 42" $3,598., so maybe that was price range new on the T1600).
Questions:
Is $1,500 a reasonable price?
1,100 hours diesel ok?
What should I check on the tractor, to verify what the owner says is right?
Many thanks, nice to be here with folks who know stuff!
