I have always tilled the garden in the spring, but have recently heard talk of doing it in fall instead. Any comments? Thanks in advance if so.

I usually plow in the fall. That way I get everything turned under and ready to put the fall leaves on the ground. I till those in in the spring. That helps hold moisture in July and August when we don't get much rain.

I till mine in both the spring and the fall. In the spring, of course, to prepare a seed bed. In the fall to turn under the chopped up vegetation from the growing season to start rotting down.
