I was cruising E-bay and saw this factory cutaway Gravely for sale:

Blame it on my engineering blood, but I'd love to have it. I'm sorry (but my wallet's glad) that it's too far away for me to buy. I hope someone here gets it. I'm posting the photos attached with the auction so there's a record here for people. This thing is just too cool!

Oh my, that is really cool!!!
Too bad it's so weathered. But at least now you know why they cost so much.
I remember the Manteno Ill. Gravely dealer had one in the showroom. That particular display cutaway had a handle on the starter pulley so you could rotate the crankshaft and see everything work. Yes, the magneto was hot and would get you if you put your hand on the plug wire and cranked the handle.

I saw that one too and started to drool a little. :biglaugh:

I have never seen one with the cutaway sickle bar before. I'd love to have it to clutter up my shop some more.
Super awesome.. one more thing to trip over as I'm sure I can't place that in the middle of the living room!
I think that if cleaned up, I could build it into a coffee table with a glass top. It should fit right into my living room.

I wonder how many different style cutaways they made? I recall seeing one at the mow-in in WV (2008), but that one was newer, if I recall. I hope that it's at the 2011 mow-in. I really would like to do a good photo shoot on it.

Spotted that earlier today and put it on my watch. It's up to $255.00, 3 bids, reserve not met. Should be interesting.

Guess who else saw it there. :D They also did a cutaway of the 800/8000 series transaxles. But only one or two of them.

For that price you could buy a new Sawzall and make your own. Most of us have parts tractors that would make good candidates.

FYI - I'm close enough to New Haven CT to pick it up. Send me a PM if you are interested. :banghead3 :Stop:
