I've know about these for a while but didn't bring it up before.. The filter that fits the kawi engines crosses to a FRAM ph4967 ( for easy cross reference ) and is the same filter for many Toyotas. An extended filter is made for some Toyotas that is double length, but is the same spec as the 4967 and can be used interchangeably. That is a ph 4386.. Think there's benefit to running longer filter IF it can fit under the hood?

The yanmars use a common filter, to most Hondas and is PH 6607, with an extended version PH 4386..

I use FRAM numbers because they are easy to search and cross but I do not recommend their use..

I don't think an extended length filter will fit.... How much longer is it?

I have an Onan and some Kohlers that use a short filter, I crossed the # to a longer filter,,

I do not know how to grip the recommended one for removal on the Onan,,, :dunno:

The long one gives you something to grab,,,

The longer filter looks "more industrial" on this Kohler,,, :fing32:

Filtering about 2 quarts of oil, the size probably does not make much difference.

If the filter were painted flat black, the extra surface area might help with cooling some,,

As the filters are shiny white, they are not getting rid of much heat,,,, :hide:

I just bought a JD this week, and found that JD filters are painted black,
I might look into whether JD filters cross over, the black will radiate a little heat,,, :fing32:
