I dont have a lawn; I have a weedy, sandy lot. High lift blades last about 40 hours then they get destroyed by sand blasting. I've heard that there is a low lift, hard metal blade that is good for sand. The oem blades for my toro lx500 are about 79 dollars for a set of three. Does anyone know where I can find these so called sand blades?

thanks

Go with the gator blades. They allow the sand to kind of pass through the slots. The cutting edge will last marginally longer, but they will still round over. I feel your pain, I also deal with sand and go through at least 1 set of blades a year. I sharpen every other time I mow.
