on a 1614, the hub pulls in and out about 1/8". Is this a big concern?

I don't think so, Steve. As long as they don't wobble up and down or side to side, I think you are fine.

I should ask a few questions before I throw out an answer Steve. Have the final drives ever been taken apart on this tractor that you know of? If not, you're probably fine. If they have, there may have been a thrust washer left out at re-assembly. I still feel that you're ok but I wanted to throw that out there as well, just to be sure.

I agree with you Jeff,If there is no up and down or side to side movement only straight in and out and if the seal is not leaking I would not worry about it.

Can extra thrust washers be added to tighten this up some Jeff and would you put them inboard or outboard of the final drive gear?

I suppose you could but I don't think I would worry about it. Everything has to have some movement.

shut up. just kidding. Good point and yes they are. thats like taking apart the carb before checking to see if you have gas. or a doctor told my mom, we walk before we run.
