Hi All, well I purchased an linear actuator (4" stroke 500 lb cap.) fabricated some mounts and wired up a switch got it installed and it works good. I'm going to like it.

Working on plan b-2 for the lower bracket to turn the motor sidewise for better pin clearance.

Looks good GB. :trink40: Turning the motor would be a good idea for "just in case" reasons.
Boy that sure Looks Great On that Tractor:thThumbsU
That is pretty slick.
That sure looks like it'll work great. :fing32:
Good job, looks good!
Very nice work!

Hi all, after installing the linear actuator (and I like it) I discovered that while driving the tractor its impossible to know when the hitch is full up or down so I devised a light on the dash to come on when the SH is all the way up or down and it works good for now time will tell if it works in the dirt etc.

Great job. It looks good. Are those a sign of getting lazy?

How did you wire it so the light would work when full up or down?

Hi chemteck29, I wired the light to the battery and then the ground wire to the hitch, used a piece of plastic and attached the ground wire and two light springs that form a V as the hitch is lowered it contacts one of the springs and the light lites run the hitch up and the other spring makes contact and the light lites, it works good in the up mode but nots so good in the down mode.

The stock sears hitch ratchets when your all the way up, or all the way down. The light is cool though.
Hi Smallfry, this one also ratchets when its all up or down but you can't hear it when the tractor is running and I wanted a visual indicator.
Must be they all ratchet ?

I have mine on the Onan power sears, they are a lot better on the ears so you can hear the ratchet sound.

An Onan 16 tractor followed by a screaming 8HP tiller makes it difficult to hear the ratcheting at the end of stroke but the vibration is detectable thru the metal on the tractor. A properly placed knee, hand or foot can telegraph the vibration to master control.

Very true, the tiller does drown out the ratchet. If I wear ear plugs, ot's hard to hear also.
