Echo switched on off direction on new pole products

Our landscape co has been using echo equipment for 20 years. Yesterday was checking in some new echo pole pruners shc225 and string trimmers srm 3020. Some engineer flip flop the on off switch on the throttle control. All my other echo stuff on is towards the engine. Off is away
Now it’s off towards engine. On is away from engine. We run over 30 pcs of old style and 8 new style that are opposite. I’d love to know the reasoning to change this. Are they matching a competitor or new engineer at echo?

Or the switch was installed backwards at the factory?
That is a pretty significant change. I doubt they saved any money by doing it that way but perhaps there was a safety issue. If one or more users got injured they would likely try to figure a way to prevent that in the future. I can see how that would be annoying to you and your guys.
Turn the switch over if you can for safety purpose, so they match your other units! ---I know it ticks you off and hard to say they changed directions. certainly not safe for users that may think the new is like the old!

Check your operator’s manual page 13, item 4 (from online search) .... https://www.echo-usa.com/getattachm...4c8-4035ea84cfc7/SHC-225 225Ses_1112_102314_2
“Move switch FORWARD to RUN, BACK to STOP.” If you find the same in yours, maybe take it back to where you bought it and have them make it right on Echo’s dime.
