Don't know about that, looks like more of a 50-50 chance of an early spring. Googled "ground hog day 2020" and it looks split 3-3 for early spring versus winter continues. I'll take a wait and see approach here in Michigan.
Spring usually shows up on June 1, last few years we jump from the 50's and rain to 80's and sun, then everyone is complaining about being behind on field work and planting. Farming is gambling no way about it.
Yep, the torrential downpours have begun all over again. We are in the midst of the beginning of the system that is hitting the entire East Coast up to Canada. Supposed to get 3 or more inches of rain by tomorrow.
Yep, we got more than the 3 inches of rain! In a five hour period, we received almost 6 inches and it's still drizzling down. So much for mowing tomorrow or even the next week as I've got large pools of water in the low spots in the yard. Temp was quite nice for most of it, in the mid to low 70's, now in the mid 60's.
Certainly quite happy I live where it don't snow much. That downpour would have resulted in over 5 feet of snow! (Roughly 10 inches of snow to 1 inch of rain)
Like someone mentioned we haven't had any significant snowfalls this year. And its after the holidays. Today, I just read all the gulf states may experience spring 20 days earlier this year. Where I'm at in MD., its 15 to 20 degrees warmer this year than normal temperatures so there's definitely...
An early storm is heading our way. Originally, it was only supposed to be an inch or two, then the NWS bumped the forecast to 5-8. Most TV folks are saying three or less.
They were right about one thing: It's cold! Was only about 20F at 8 this morning.
I'm not really ready for winter. Oaks are...
Our local weather reporters beat the death out of the term "impact day". They use it for every day. It makes no sense at all.
"Today is an impact day because the weather is nice, so it will impact what you do"
"Today is an impact day because it will rain so you need (duh) an umbrella"
After having some cold weather in Nov. the weather turned pretty mild since then. That may be starting to change. We are finally seeing some predictions of colder temps and possibly some lowland snow this weekend and into next week. The different weather stations can't agree on how cold it will...
It's coming down hard boys. Had to abandon the Jeep in the wilderness and walk home after getting stuck while going out for rations. Shelves nearly wiped clean of milk, bread, and eggs. Hope we can survive this. Wish me luck.
