Interesting, but maybe someone with an appropriate degree might need to weigh in. He added an undisclosed amount of water to the fuel and that amount might not have accumulated naturally. I have stored ethanol fuel for over a year in motorcycles, and that fuel, although stale, still allowed the engines to run. The systems are sealed, so you get some moisture intrusion, but his result of not being able to run on 10% ethanol with stabilizer after a year is not what I have experienced. It makes me wonder if the addition of water skewed the results. There is no doubt ethanol is bad, but in my experience, stabil at least lets you run after a year.

I do not take any extra steps at the end of the season with ethanol nor during. Only time I ever had a problem was when I used Stabil which I didn't realize had passed its' expiration date, what a mess, never used it again.

I'm with Walt on this one. In regular use are: Tractor for mowing and snow plowing. Trim mowers, old Craftsman Shredder, Cyclone Rake, and my Yamaha powered generator. All use the 87 octane 10% ethanol pump fuel. No special treatments except on the generator, I cut the fuel valve off and let the carb run dry.

I have five, 5 gallon polyethylene gas cans (25 gallons total) that I use up completely before making another gas station run. They are stored in an unheated garage. In my case that is probably 3 or 4 refills per year so I guess the gas stays somewhat fresh.

I never felt the need to run non-ethanol gas until recently. Replaced my chainsaw hoses and put fresh Stabil treated gas in it. It ran great. Left the gas in it(I know--not good practice) and the lines were mush in 3 months and the carb had that gel in it the video showed. I bought lines from Amazon and they were probably fake Tygon before I knew fake lines were a thing.

After replacing my lines again I said I will only buy non-ethanol for my saw but that was a pain so I ended up just going to all non-ethanol for all my OPE.

My Cub XT3 has had this bad idle hunting characteristic that resisted change with fuel system cleaner, spray carb cleaner, spark plugs, and air/fuel filters. Sounded like "puh...puh...puh" at low and high idle. After a couple tanks of non-ethanol gas that idle hunting that has been going on since I got it--75hrs using ethanol gas has ceased and it runs smooth.

Up until this year I would have told anyone that ethanol fuel was fine. That video corroborates what I have experienced this year.

I am with Urquell on this one. Got tired of replacing fuel lines and carb problems. Buying a fuel treatment for gas, why not buy better gas in the first place. If have not had any fuel related problems since dropping the ethanol.

Ethanol-free for my tractor and I run the Husqvarna fuel in my trimmer, blower, and saw. I’ll let fuel sit in everything all winter and there’s never been a problem in the spring.

Like @Ariens93GT20 says, just use the best stuff in the first place. Why trip over a dollar to save a dime?

Heck, I would have agreed with the ethanol proponents until I had a problem. It's not a problem until it is. Then it's a problem.

I LOVE Project Farm. We have an ethanol free pump near me and it's not much more than 87 octane. I use it in junction with Amsoil Saber for my two cycle trimmer and blower and that stuff starts on first pull EVERY time. I also mix it 80:1 and they love it.

Keep the container air tight and the fuel tank topped almost to the brim when not in use.
The emptier the tank, the greater amount of air exchange during heating/cooling during the day/night.
Daytime, things warm up a bit and air inside the tank expands & vents out.
Nighttime, air cools & contracts, drawing a fresh "gulp" of moisture laden air.
Alcohol LOVES water.
Think about it or don't. It's your equipment. Mine works.
I'm just finishing my 30th season with my Honda walk behind. Never had the carb off or a need to clean.

Well that's all fine and dandy if you can store everything inside with no worry about neighbors with sticky fingers. The less fuel in the equipment the less they can take.

ethanol is great if you use it all up (let the machine run out of fuel) but if you let it sit in your machinery it will turn green and then white and then just buy another carb, my experiance?? i personally put some seafoam in my gas cans around this time of year which ensures that there is some type of preventive maintence.

Maybe in your neck of the woods, but in mine, even 90% humidity doesn't mean that a whole lot condensation is going to form when the air temp is sub zero.

My equipment lives outside, and the grass cutter is left to over-winter with whatever amount of unstabilized fuel it finished with when the engine was shut off. After 13 seasons, it still starts up every spring after the battery is charged.

I stopped using Stabil several years ago now. I switched to Startron and have been very pleased with that and Seafoam. I put the Startron in as soon as I get home with new gas and seafoam when I fill the tanks on the equipment.

Luckily for me, there is a little country gas station just down the road about 4 miles in the Great State of Alabama that has three pumps total. One for regular ethanol gas, one for non ethanol gas and one for farm diesel. I get the non ethanol gas there for my truck and for everything else. I found that the power and gas mileage improved a little on the truck. The other stuff just runs great and have no problems with gas left in for a couple of months.
But the thing is that you have to use the gas you have. If you know that something like a gas powered post hole auger is only going to be used once in a great while, use it then drain the gas out. My mower, either rider or push, gets used year round down here in the humid Deep South, the grass grows even in winter. There hasn't been any of that white **** for the 4 years I have been here. I did get fuel stabilizer at first when I moved here, then stopped because the gas was usually used up each month and wasn't really needed. The equipment lives outdoors with a rain cover for the rider.
