Hi Guys,

I picked up some implements with my 446, and was wondering about this blade, which definitely isnt Case. Any ideas as to what it might be?

Whoa! Thats it for sure... :thThumbsU - I wonder if the guy (who was supposedly an employee of Case) tried to make it work on a case tractor?

Do you notice that lever in the photo - does that look Bolens too?

Thanks mate - that solves a mystery!

Now I just need to find someone to trade for something Case :)

I am not positive that the lever is a Bolens lift bar since my only front implement is a snow thrower and has a chain (instead of the bar). But it is similar to the one used for my tiller attachment on the rear (except the rear one is curved to give it an upward angle to clear the axle). My rear one has the 3 different holes to control how high the implements sits when lifted and how low it could go when dropped.

I think yours could very well be adaptable easily to just about any manual lift mechanism. I notice the upright connecting posts are in different locations (presumably to accommodate the lift rod length for whichever tractor it was used on). The front implement manual lift mounting point is higher than the tiller on a Bolens so I do believe your bar could be used (or easily adapted).

I sure wish you were closer so that I could do some testing and maybe some horse trading for that blade but besides the distance I do not have any Case parts. :biglaugh:

I am guessing yours is the 42" model 18532 with the lift link connection point relocated closer to the blade (presumably for use with the Case?). Manual is attached.

Ha! Thanks for the response.

Yep, there are 3 adjustment points on that bar - kinda looks like a Bolens personality. But the bar in your photo looks like it has a more radical bend than the one I have here.

When I first got the blade, I thought that the fellow adapted it for the case. It fits on the hanger underneath just fine, but the steering linkage gets in the way of that bar. Even looking at the possibility of using a chain, by the looks of it, there still wouldnt be the right clearance.

TO tell you the truth, I think I like the size of the Bolens blade better. Seems like It could control more because it is a little less wide, and just looks "right".

Thanks for all your input,

Mark

Almost definitely a Bolens blade for the tube frames.

The lift arm is obviously 'home brewed'. The Bolens lift arm has 3 holes on one end for adjustment, and a long slot of the other end to allow the attachments to float.
